SOD Signs MoU with Furniture & Fittings Skill Council (FFSC)

The School of Design (SOD), Presidency University, formalised a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Furniture & Fittings Skill Council (FFSC) on 25 February 2026 at the Chancellor’s Board Room.

 

The Furniture & Fittings Skill Council (FFSC) is a not-for-profit organisation registered under the Societies Registration Act XXI of 1860. The Council has been promoted by the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) with financial support from the National Skill Development Corporation (NSDC) under the aegis of the Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship (MSDE).

The MoU was signed by Mr Rahul Mehta, CEO, FFSC, in the presence of the Hon’ble Vice-Chancellor, Dr S. J. Thiruvengadam, and the Hon’ble Pro-Vice Chancellor, Dr Vidya Shankar Shetty. Mr Mehta was accompanied by Ms Bharti Paliwal, Senior Manager, and Mr Binil K B, Regional Skills Manager – Karnataka.

 

The ceremony was attended by Dr Jothi Basu, Director – Placements and Training; Ms Kavitha V, Associate Director, CSIC; and Ms Komala R, Placement Officer – Placements. Faculty members from SOD present at the event included Ms Srishti Bajaj, Director – School of Design; Mr Abhilash B. S., HoD In-Charge; Ms Jyoti Sharma, Assistant Professor; Mr Madhusudana M., Assistant Professor; and Ms Sonali Madireddi, Assistant Professor. The event was emceed by Mr Harsha Eswaraiah, Soft Skills Trainer (L&D).

 

The programme commenced with a formal welcome by the emcee, followed by the welcome address delivered by Ms Srishti Bajaj. Mr Madhusudana M. outlined the objectives of the MoU and introduced both institutions. Mr Rahul Mehta then addressed the gathering and introduced the vision and initiatives of FFSC. The formal signing of the MoU between Mr Rahul Mehta and the Hon’ble Vice-Chancellor marked the highlight of the event. The ceremony concluded with a vote of thanks delivered by Mr Madhusudana M.

 

This partnership provides access to FFSC’s extensive ecosystem of training programmes, trainers, course materials, workshops and certification opportunities for both students and faculty members. While the collaboration is particularly aligned with the Product Design and Space Design departments, faculty and students across all programmes — especially Foundation — are encouraged to actively engage with the opportunities made available through this association.

 

The event concluded on a positive note, marking the beginning of a strategic collaboration aimed at strengthening skill development and industry integration within the School of Design.
