SOD Outdoor Study Visit to Lalbagh Botanical Garden
The Outdoor Study Visit to Lalbagh Botanical Garden was organised as part of the Colours and Mediums course for First Semester Fine Arts students. The activity aimed to provide students with a practical learning experience through the observation and study of colours as they occur naturally in plants, flowers, foliage and landscapes.
Through direct interaction with the natural environment, students explored concepts such as colour harmony, contrast, tonal variations and colour relationships. During the visit, they created observational sketches and colour studies using dry media, including coloured pencils, crayons and pastels.
Students also analysed the effects of light and shadow on colour perception and experimented with colour blending and rendering techniques. This field-based learning experience strengthened their observational, analytical and creative skills while bridging theoretical classroom concepts with real-world artistic practice.
The visit also fostered an appreciation of nature as a source of inspiration and contributed to the achievement of the learning outcomes of the Colours and Mediums course.
