SOD - 2D Masterclass on Traditional Animation Process

16-February-2026

On 16 February 2026, students of 2nd semester Multimedia, Presidency School of Design, attended a 2D Masterclass on the Traditional Animation Process from 10.00 am to 4.00 pm. Organised as part of BSM2001: Introduction to 2D Animation, the workshop was designed as an introductory, hands-on session to expose first-year learners to the fundamentals of 2D animation through experiential learning. The session was conducted by Midhun K Benny, 2D Animator and Visual Storyteller (Freelance Animator), who introduced students to the essential concepts underpinning traditional cell animation.

During the workshop, students explored the fundamentals of movement, frames and timing, gaining practical insight into how motion is created using sequential images. Through basic animation exercises, they engaged in creative exploration and visual storytelling, strengthening their understanding of core 2D animation principles. The session also created awareness of animation as a potential creative and academic pathway for future exploration.
