The Presidency School of Computer Science and Engineering successfully conducted the workshop titled “Hands-on Hypervisor: VMware Practical Workshop.” The session was delivered by Dr M. Shanmugam Shobha, Professor and Head of Department at Garden City University, Bengaluru, and focused on providing students with practical exposure to virtualisation technologies and their applications in modern IT infrastructure. The resource person offered valuable insights into hypervisor technologies, effectively combining theoretical concepts with hands-on implementation.
The workshop covered key areas including the fundamentals of virtualisation, types of hypervisors (Type 1 and Type 2), VMware architecture, and deployment strategies. Students participated in a hands-on session where they learned to create, configure, and manage virtual machines in real time. The session also highlighted resource optimisation, scalability, and the role of virtualisation in cloud computing, enterprise IT infrastructure, and DevOps environments. The event witnessed active student participation, making it an engaging and informative session that successfully bridged the gap between academic learning and industry practice.
