SOC Deeksharambh 2026: B.Com Orientation - Day 1

The Presidency School of Commerce, Presidency University, successfully inaugurated Deeksharambh 2026 on 2 July 2026 (Thursday), welcoming the incoming B.Com Batch of 2026 and marking the beginning of an exciting academic journey for the newest members of the Presidency family.

 

The inaugural ceremony commenced with an invocation, a welcome dance and the ceremonial lighting of the lamp, symbolising the pursuit of knowledge, wisdom and excellence.

 

The occasion was graced by the University's distinguished leadership. Dr Padmavathi M., Dean, School of Commerce, warmly welcomed the students and parents to the Presidency family. Dr Dinesh Nilkant, Pro-Vice Chancellor, delivered the inaugural address, encouraging students to embrace opportunities with confidence, commitment and purpose. Dr Venkateswaran S., Registrar, shared valuable insights into the University's academic culture, expectations and student responsibilities. Dr Thiruvenkadam S. J., Vice Chancellor, delivered the presidential address, inspiring students to pursue excellence, integrity, innovation and lifelong learning throughout their academic and professional journey.

 

A key highlight of the inaugural session was the orientation address by the Chief Guest, Ms Jayashree Sathy, Managing Director, State Street, Bengaluru, who shared valuable industry perspectives and encouraged students to develop the skills, values, adaptability and resilience required to excel in their future careers.

 

The inaugural function concluded with a vote of thanks delivered by Dr Poornima Karthikeyan, Associate Professor and Head of the Department.

 

The orientation programme also introduced students and parents to various aspects of university life, including academic regulations, examination processes, student engagement initiatives, placements and internships, and opportunities available through clubs, sports, NCC and NSS. The sessions provided a comprehensive overview of the vibrant academic and co-curricular ecosystem at Presidency University.
