The Rotaract Club of Presidency University organised “Voices for the Voiceless” on 17 March 2026 as an initiative to spread awareness about animal welfare and responsible pet ownership. The visit to Charlie’s Rescue Centre was conducted with the objective of helping members understand the realities faced by stray and abandoned animals, while also encouraging compassion and responsibility towards voiceless beings.
Event Overview
During the visit, participants were given a detailed introduction to the rescue centre and its operations. The staff explained the process of rescuing injured, abandoned, and stray dogs, highlighting the efforts taken to provide them with medical care, shelter, and rehabilitation. Members were also able to observe how the animals are nurtured back to health and prepared for adoption.
The session further shed light on the growing issue of pet abandonment. The team explained that many animals are abandoned due to a lack of awareness, changing lifestyles, or an inability to take on long-term responsibility.
