The Presidency School of Computer Science and Engineering (PSOCSE) recently hosted an insightful offline seminar titled "SYNERGY: AI in Retail" as part of the Industry-Academia Innovation Summit. Held on Friday, 27th February 2026, the event featured Mr Karthikeyan R, Enterprise Sales Head at BIRetail Solutions Private Limited, as the distinguished resource person. With over 15 years of expertise in retail tech consulting and a significant tenure at Zoho Corporation’s Gofrugal Technologies, Mr Karthikeyan provided students with a rare glimpse into the multimillion-pound retail ecosystems of global brands such as SPAR, Tim Hortons, and Health & Glow.

The session successfully bridged the gap between academic theory and industry practice, focusing on the transformative power of Data Analytics and Artificial Intelligence in modern commerce. Students explored the practicalities of Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) systems, the development of Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for merchandise management, and the shift towards a solution-centric approach in business decision-making. By dissecting real-world applications in inventory management and customer behaviour analysis, the seminar motivated attendees to pursue emerging career pathways in AI-driven domains and data science.
