The School of Computer Science & Engineering (PSCSE), Presidency University, successfully organised a one-day workshop on "Research Proposal Writing" to strengthen the research culture among faculty members, research scholars, and postgraduate students. The workshop aimed to familiarise participants with the structure and essential components of a research proposal, demonstrate the proposal writing process through a live walkthrough, and introduce practical tools to support literature review, writing, and formatting. The inaugural session highlighted the importance of research and innovation in academia and the role of effective proposal writing in securing research funding and academic recognition.

The technical sessions were delivered by eminent resource persons from academia and industry. Dr. Vijaya Kumar B. P., Professor & Head, Department of Artificial Intelligence & Data Science, Ramaiah Institute of Technology, introduced the fundamentals of research proposal writing, covering proposal structure, key components, and common pitfalls. Dr. Sowmya B. J., Associate Professor, Ramaiah Institute of Technology, conducted a live demonstration of preparing a research proposal using a sample format, while Mr. Vivek, Associate Software Engineer at Flexera, showcased practical tools and techniques for literature search, reference management, collaborative writing, formatting, and proposal refinement.

The workshop provided participants with a comprehensive understanding of the proposal writing process, from conceptual foundations to practical implementation. Faculty members and research scholars appreciated the relevance, clarity, and hands-on nature of the sessions, which enhanced their confidence in preparing high-quality research proposals. The programme is expected to encourage greater participation in funded research projects and further strengthen the research ecosystem within the University.
