The School of Computer Science and Engineering–CORE organised a Seminar on IoT and its Applications – 2026 on 2 September 2026, from 2:00 pm to 4:15 pm, at Seminar Hall–1, F Block. The session was convened by Dr Gopal Krishna Shyam and coordinated by Ms Battula Bhavya, AP/CSE, and Dr Amritha Preeya V, AP/CSE. A total of 93 students and four faculty members participated in the offline seminar. The session was delivered by Dr Malatesh Kamatar, Associate Professor, Department of Computer Science & Engineering, PDIT, Hosapete, who provided valuable insights into the fundamentals, architecture and practical applications of the Internet of Things (IoT).

The seminar covered key areas including IoT architecture and components, sensors and actuators, embedded devices, communication protocols and networking, cloud computing and IoT integration, security and privacy challenges, and emerging trends. Real-world applications in smart homes, smart cities, healthcare, agriculture and Industrial IoT were discussed through practical examples and interactive sessions. Students actively participated in discussions, demonstrations and question-and-answer sessions, gaining a clearer understanding of how connected devices collect, communicate and process data to enable smart and automated systems.

The programme successfully bridged the gap between theoretical knowledge and practical applications, enhancing students’ technical understanding, problem-solving abilities and innovative thinking in IoT. The session also created awareness of emerging areas such as AIoT, Edge Computing, Smart Cities, Industrial IoT and IoT Security, while encouraging students to pursue IoT-based projects, research and career opportunities. The interaction with the resource person also initiated academic engagement with PDIT, Hosapete, with scope for future collaborations, student projects, hackathons, internships and research activities in IoT and related technologies.
