PSOCSE Hosts Cyber Sandbox Workshop on Live Exploitation & Defence

30-March-2026

The Presidency School of Computer Science and Engineering (Specialisation Division) successfully conducted a two-day hands-on workshop titled “Cyber Sandbox: Live Exploitation & Defence Lab” on 30th and 31st March 2026, from 1:00 pm to 4:00 pm at F Block Seminar Hall-1.

The workshop was organised under the convenorship of Dr Anandraj S P and coordinated by Dr Sharmasth Vali Y and Ms Rakheeba Taseen. A total of 180 students actively participated in this offline event, reflecting strong interest in cybersecurity and ethical hacking domains.

The session was led by Mr Anup Ganiger, Founder of HackerHub8, who brought extensive expertise in ethical hacking, penetration testing and vulnerability assessment. The workshop provided participants with a practical understanding of cybersecurity concepts through real-time demonstrations and hands-on exposure.

The programme covered key areas such as:

  • Penetration Testing Lifecycle (reconnaissance, scanning, exploitation)
  • Network security and TCP/IP fundamentals
  • Vulnerability assessment techniques
  • Web security (SQL injection, XSS)
  • Tools such as Kali Linux and Wireshark
  • Intrusion detection and system hardening

Participants gained valuable experience in identifying and mitigating security vulnerabilities in controlled lab environments. The workshop effectively bridged theoretical knowledge with real-world cybersecurity practices, enhancing students’ technical and analytical skills.

The event received highly positive feedback, with participants appreciating the interactive sessions, live demonstrations and practical exposure. Many students also expressed interest in pursuing advanced learning and careers in cybersecurity.
