Presidency School of Computer Science & Engineering (PSOCSE) organised an Alumni Tech Talk titled “From Beginner to Full Stack Developer: The MERN Roadmap” on 28 August 2026 at K401. The 1-hour-45-minute session was conducted for fifth-semester students to provide practical insights into full-stack development and the skills required to build modern web applications. Convened by Dr Pallavi R and coordinated by Ms Impa B.H, Ms Shet Reshma Prakash and Ms Prachi Amol Gadhikar, the session was attended by 63 students and four faculty members, with Mr Pavan K. C., Software Development Engineer at Maxwelt Technologies, Bengaluru, serving as the external resource person.

The session introduced students to the MERN stack—MongoDB, Express.js, React.js and Node.js—and its application in contemporary web development. The speaker presented a structured learning roadmap covering HTML, CSS, JavaScript, programming fundamentals, database management, responsive frontend development, backend development, REST APIs, application integration and deployment. Students also gained insights into software engineering practices, full-stack project development, version control and the importance of building practical projects and portfolios. Drawing from his industry experience, the alumnus highlighted current industry expectations and shared practical strategies for developing technical competencies.

The talk helped students understand the transition from learning programming concepts to developing industry-ready, real-world applications. Participants gained greater clarity on career opportunities in software development and the skills needed to prepare for internships, placements and project work. The interaction also encouraged students to follow a systematic learning path, continuously upgrade their technical knowledge and gain hands-on experience through projects. Overall, the Alumni Tech Talk served as an effective bridge between academic learning and industry requirements, providing students with practical direction, career awareness and motivation to pursue full-stack development.
