PSAIAC Explores Grassroots AI for a Viksit Bharat
Presidency School of Artificial Intelligence & Advanced Computing (PSAIAC), Presidency University, organised a thought-provoking session titled “The Digital Spinning Wheel: Weaving Grassroots AI for a Viksit Bharat” on 25 July 2026, from 10:30 am to 12:30 pm, at Seminar Hall 2, F Block, Presidency University.
The session explored the transformative potential of Artificial Intelligence (AI) at the grassroots level and its role in addressing local and community-level challenges. The programme brought together more than 100 faculty members and research scholars from various disciplines, providing a platform for meaningful discussions on the application of AI for social and community impact.
Focus of the Session
The session explored how AI can empower communities and contribute to the vision of a Viksit Bharat by addressing challenges across key sectors, including education, agriculture, healthcare, governance, rural entrepreneurship and skill development.

Expert Perspective
The session featured Mr Madan Padaki from JAN AI as the resource person. His participation brought valuable perspectives on AI innovation, grassroots applications and the potential of emerging technologies to create meaningful social impact.
Towards a Viksit Bharat
The programme aimed to enhance participants’ understanding of the role of Grassroots AI in achieving the vision of Viksit Bharat 2047. It also encouraged participants to explore the application of AI across sectors such as agriculture, healthcare, education, governance, sustainability and rural development.
The session highlighted the importance of collaboration between academia, industry, government, startups and research organisations in developing responsible and impactful AI solutions for communities.
