Presidency University Hosts Nationwide Pro Bono Conclave
The Pro Bono Club at Presidency University School of Law organised the Nationwide Pro Bono Conclave on November 14, 2025. The Conclave was aimed at promoting the spirit of pro bono service and significance of compassion in the law student fraternity of India.
The first of its kind conclave was inaugurated by Shri H.N. Nagamohan Das, former judge of the High Court of Karnataka, who elaborated on the significance of pro bono work and public interest litigation in his powerful address and congratulated the School of Law for organizing a national conclave on this less addressed theme.
Twenty law schools from across India participated in the Conclave and presented their pro bono and legal aid initiatives undertaken in the past two academic years. Four distinguished experts from all over India were invited as speakers and judges for the Conclave. Ms. Bharti Ali, Development Professional and Child Rights Defender; Ms. Shubha Chacko, Gender Rights Activist; Dr. Kamal Singh, Legal and Recovery Officer, Ministry of Finance, Government of India; and Ms. Anu Chengappa, Advocate, High Court of Karnataka, graced Presidency School of Law for the Nationwide Pro Bono Conclave.
ICFAI Hyderabad bagged the first position, followed by Government Law College Trivandrum as first runner-up and Christ University Bangalore as second runner-up.The Conclave concluded with a reaffirmation of the legal fraternity’s commitment to pro bono service, inspiring students to uphold justice, empathy, and meaningful community engagement.
