Pre-Placement & Industry Readiness Training Programme

13-January-2026

The Department of Civil Engineering, Presidency School of Engineering, successfully organised a six-day Pre-Placement & Industry Readiness Training Programme from 7 to 13 January 2026 at the E & F Block Seminar Hall. The programme was designed for III and IV B.Tech and IV M.Tech Civil Engineering students with the objective of bridging the gap between academic learning and real-world construction practices. The training covered key aspects of the construction project lifecycle, including construction fundamentals, project planning and scheduling, drawing interpretation, resource and cost management, quality and safety practices, and emerging industry trends. Interactive sessions, role plays, case discussions, and activity-based learning helped students gain a practical understanding of site execution and inter-departmental coordination.

A major highlight of the programme was the guided site visit, which provided students with hands-on exposure to live construction environments, safety protocols, quality control measures, and site documentation practices. The training concluded with career readiness sessions focusing on professional communication, personal branding, internship and job search strategies, and an introduction to BIM, followed by capstone presentations and a valedictory session. Overall, the programme significantly enhanced students’ technical competence, industry awareness, and professional confidence, equipping them with the skills and clarity required for internships and entry-level roles in the construction industry.
