ACADEMIC ACHIEVEMENTS
The Department of Learning and Development organized a mega Scavenger Race event on September 5, 2022 for SOC and SOIS as part of their orientation program. More than 600 students participated and got a chance to know one another as well as the university campus. The event provided exposure to a wide range of learning opportunities in terms of team building, synergy, creativity, ideation, and effective interpersonal communication skills. It was an engaging and enthusiastic event with loads of fun and learning.

Students in teams of 20 were given a road map for the scavenger race with clear instruction. Five nodal points were set up. At each node, students had to participate in team activities, collect a clue, and move on to the next node.

  • Activity 1 was to take "Groupie" at Arch provided with a 20-minute timeline.
  • Activity 2 was "Mind Squats" with a 20-minute timeline.
  • Activity 3 was "Reel It" with a 30-minute timeline. Each team made a 15-second reel based on a song of their choice.
  • Activity 4 was Slogan, Name, and Logo Design with a 30-minute timeline.
  • Activity 5 was "Puzzle Time," with a 20-minute timeline.

After the successful completion of the activities, students assembled back at the canopy for debriefing and prize distribution. The first 3 teams to complete the scavenger race were awarded with gift hampers. The School of Management organised a two-day orientation programme for first semester students. On this occasion, the Learning and Development Department conducted corporate readiness and personality grooming sessions along with a host of other activities. Students were given an introduction to the training conducted by the department and the importance of soft skills for getting them industry-ready by the resource persons, Ms. Sowmya R and Mr. Debmalya.

Group activities like CRESCENDO and ADZAP for students were conducted by Mr. Roop and Ms. Mini, which were highly appreciated with enthusiastic student participation. In the first activity, students were asked to create theme music for their group without using props, phones or any instruments; feet tapping, clapping hands, beat boxing, humming and singing were allowed. The time given for preparation was 15 minutes, and the presentation time was 10 minutes. Students participated actively and came up with creative ways to perform. Interactive debriefing by trainers brought clarity to the students and expectations were set for them to have a successful academic year. In the second activity, ADZAP, students were asked to create a company logo and slogan, complete with an advertisement to market their product. The activity promoted originality, creativity, collaboration, and the presentation skills of the students.
