Omega Coding Club Conducts Robotics Workshop with IIT Bombay Techfest

15-October-2025

The Omega Coding Club, Presidency School of Computer Science and Engineering, in association with Techfest, IIT Bombay and Drona Automation, conducted “The Robotics Workshop” on October 15, 2025. The workshop aimed to introduce students to the fundamentals of robotics, embedded systems, and control mechanisms, bridging the gap between theoretical learning and real-world implementation. Aligned with SDG 4 (Quality Education), SDG 8 (Decent Work and Economic Growth), and SDG 9 (Industry, Innovation, and Infrastructure), the event drew enthusiastic participation from undergraduate students across programmes, highlighting the growing interest in robotics and automation as an interdisciplinary field.

The workshop featured two distinguished industry experts — Mr. Suraj Wodeyar, Founder and CEO of Drona Automations, and Mr. Manthan Rasal, Control Systems Engineer at Drona Automations — who led the session through insightful presentations and live demonstrations.

The experts offered hands-on exposure to sensors, actuators, microcontrollers, and embedded programming, enhancing participants’ knowledge of robotic systems functioning through a combination of hardware and software integration.

Participants actively engaged in interactive discussions and live demonstrations that showcased the principles of control systems and real-time robotic communication. The session concluded with an interactive Q&A, where students explored topics such as automation trends, AI-based robotics, and industry applications.

The event concluded with a vote of thanks by Dr. Serin V. Simpson, appreciating the efforts of the resource persons and the active involvement of the students.

Overall, the workshop was a resounding success, effectively blending academic learning with industrial expertise and motivating students to explore robotics and automation as vital fields in the modern technological landscape.
