NSS Roadside Cleanup Drive Marks World Environment Day 2026
On 5 June 2026, on the occasion of World Environment Day, a Roadside Cleanup Drive was organised to promote environmental awareness, encourage community participation, and contribute towards a cleaner and greener society.
The drive commenced at 10:00 AM and was conducted in collaboration with the Presidency University NSS Cell, Rotary Club of Bangalore Oasis, Robin Hood Army, and Rotary Community Corps Rajanukunte.
The cleanup activity was carried out along Adde Vishwanathapura Road near Rajanukunte, covering the stretch from the Government Primary School to Prestige Oasis. Volunteers actively collected plastic waste, discarded materials, and other litter from the roadside, contributing to environmental conservation and public cleanliness.
A total of seven NSS student volunteers from Presidency University participated in the initiative. The event was conducted under the guidance of NSS Programme Co-ordinator Ms Renuka Bhagwat and Faculty Co-ordinators Dr Abdur Rahman (PT) and Dr Saji George, whose support and encouragement motivated the volunteers throughout the activity.
During the drive, local villagers appreciated the efforts of the volunteers and expressed their gratitude by offering fresh mangoes as a gesture of support. Their positive response highlighted the importance of community involvement in environmental initiatives.
