Presidency School of Management organised a masterclass titled "The Excel Edge: Spreadsheet use cases in an ERP-centric world" on July 18, 2025. The session aimed to enhance the students’ understanding of spreadsheet-based data analysis and its practical application in the business world.

The key speaker was Mr. Sridhar P.R., Technical Lead – SAP GPO for Merck’s India Sites, and Head, Materials Management at Merck, Peenya. He highlighted how SAP ERP systems are essential for managing large-scale operations but often lack flexibility for quick analysis and custom reporting. He emphasised how tools like Microsoft Excel and other spreadsheet tools continue to play a vital complementary role by offering the agility and analytical freedom.

Through live demos and case studies, Mr. Sridhar showed how combining ERP data with Excel supports smarter decision-making, giving students practical insights into real-world business analysis.
