Dept of Mechanical Engg. Organises Industrial Visit to FANUC India

12-September-2026

The Department of Mechanical Engineering, School of Engineering, Presidency University, organised an industrial visit to FANUC India Pvt. Ltd., Bommasandra, Bengaluru, on 12 September 2026 from 10:15 am to 4:00 pm. The visit was coordinated by Dr Yuvaraja Naik and attended by 45 students and four faculty members from the Mechanical and Mechatronics Engineering programmes. The visit provided students with an opportunity to observe advanced industrial automation systems and manufacturing technologies in a live industrial environment.

During the visit, students gained exposure to industrial robotics, including articulated, SCARA, Delta and collaborative robots, as well as multi-axis CNC systems and FANUC's ROBOMACHINES, including ROBODRILL, ROBOCUT and ROBOSHOT. They also learned about Industrial Internet of Things (IIoT), smart factory solutions, automated workflows, predictive maintenance and other Industry 4.0 applications. The visit helped students connect classroom learning in Manufacturing Technology, CAD/CAM, Mechatronics and Robotics with practical industrial applications.

The industrial visit enhanced students' understanding of automated manufacturing processes, CNC operations, robotic systems and interdisciplinary industrial automation. It also provided insights into industry practices, quality standards, safety protocols and emerging career opportunities in robotics, smart manufacturing and IIoT. Students appreciated the opportunity to witness advanced automation technologies in operation and recommended longer-duration visits and hands-on programming sessions in future programmes.
