Dept of EEE Organises Guest Lecture on Power Electronics in Solar PV Systems

12-August-2026

The Department of Electrical and Electronics Engineering successfully organised a guest lecture on “Power Electronics Application in Solar PV Systems” to provide students with an in-depth understanding of the application of power electronic technologies in solar photovoltaic systems. The session highlighted the role of power electronic converters, DC–DC converters, inverters, and power conditioning units in enabling efficient solar energy conversion.

The lecture covered key aspects of converter selection, control techniques, inverter operation, system efficiency, and power quality improvement in solar PV applications. Students gained valuable insights into grid-connected and standalone PV systems, as well as the challenges associated with grid integration, voltage regulation, harmonics, and reliable power delivery.

The session also provided students with valuable exposure to practical industry practices, emerging power electronic technologies, and real-world challenges in the implementation of solar PV systems. Through technical discussions and practical examples, the lecture enhanced students’ understanding of the integration of power electronics and renewable energy technologies, while strengthening their technical skills and awareness of career opportunities in the growing solar energy sector.
