Dept of EEE Conducts Domain-Specific Placement Training on AI/ML in Power System Protection

25-September-2026

The Department of Electrical and Electronics Engineering (EEE), Presidency School of Engineering, Presidency University, Bengaluru, successfully organised a Domain-Specific Placement Training on “AI/ML Applications in Power System Protection Schemes” on 25 September 2026 at 9:15 am at LB09, Presidency University. The programme was conducted for students of 7EEE01 as part of the department’s placement-oriented academic initiatives.

The training provided participants with a comprehensive understanding of the application of Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Machine Learning (ML) techniques in modern power system protection and their role in enhancing the reliability, security, speed and intelligence of power system operations. Key areas covered included fault detection, fault classification, fault location, feature extraction, protection algorithms, data analysis, intelligent decision-making and real-time monitoring.

The programme also highlighted emerging AI/ML-based protection strategies for addressing the evolving requirements of modern power systems. Participants gained insights into model development, intelligent protection technologies, system security, practical implementation, industry practices and real-world challenges. The training further strengthened their technical, analytical and problem-solving skills, while providing valuable exposure to industry-oriented applications, emerging technologies and career opportunities in AI/ML, power system protection and electrical power engineering.
