Dept. of ECE Conducts Two-Day Hands-on Workshop on Silvaco Victory TCAD
The Department of Electronics and Communication Engineering (ECE), Presidency University, organised a two-day hands-on workshop on Silvaco Victory TCAD on 14 and 15 October 2026 at the university campus. The workshop was inaugurated by Dr Ramesh Sengottuvelu, Dean, School of Engineering, and Dr Rajiv Ranjan Singh, Head of the Department, School of Engineering/ECE. The sessions were led by Ms Angen Franklin, Senior TCAD Application Engineer at Cognitive Design Technology Pvt Ltd, an authorised partner of Silvaco. The workshop aimed to familiarise participants with semiconductor device modelling and simulation through theoretical sessions, demonstrations and practical exercises.
The workshop covered the Silvaco Victory TCAD workflow, semiconductor device structure creation, mesh generation, process and device simulations, and the extraction and interpretation of electrical characteristics. Participants gained hands-on experience in simulating diodes, MOSFETs, solar cells and FinFETs, along with an introduction to circuit simulation. These sessions provided practical insights into semiconductor device and circuit analysis and strengthened participants' understanding of TCAD applications in VLSI technology.
The workshop equipped participants with foundational skills in semiconductor device modelling and simulation, enabling them to apply their learning to capstone projects, student projects and future research. A total of 14 students and three faculty members participated in the programme. The interactive sessions provided valuable exposure to industry-relevant simulation tools and highlighted their significance in advancing semiconductor research and innovation.
