Dept. of Civil Engg. Hosts Webinar on Global Housing Design

30-March-2026

The Department of Civil Engineering, School of Engineering, Presidency University, organised a webinar titled “Master Class Series – Global Housing Design” on 30 March 2026 via MS Teams. The session, held from 7:30 PM to 9:00 PM IST, was attended by undergraduate and postgraduate Civil Engineering students across all semesters. Conducted in association with the University of Liverpool, the webinar aimed to introduce students to global housing design concepts, sustainable and affordable housing strategies, and contemporary urban challenges.

The session was delivered by Prof. Johanna Muszbek, Senior Lecturer in Architecture at the University of Liverpool, who shared her expertise in housing design, urban studies, and sustainable development. She provided insights into the global housing crisis, emphasising the need for context-specific solutions despite the universal nature of housing challenges. The discussion highlighted the relationship between density and intensity in urban planning, supported by case studies from cities such as London, Hong Kong, and Shanghai. The session also introduced students to international academic opportunities, including collaborative programmes and pathways with the University of Liverpool.

The webinar offered valuable learning outcomes by enhancing students’ understanding of global housing perspectives, sustainable urban development, and multidisciplinary approaches integrating architecture, engineering, and policy. Participants gained exposure to innovative housing strategies, international case studies, and research-based design methodologies, reinforcing the importance of collaborative and sustainable solutions to address future housing challenges.
