Bridging Cultures: Japanese Language Seminar Unlocks Global Career Pathways
The Department of Languages, in collaboration with Cognition Edge, hosted a Japanese Language Seminar on May 10, 2025. The seminar aimed at bridging technical education with global career opportunities through linguistic and cultural engagement.
The seminar began with a welcome address by Dr. Pritha Sanyal, Head (in charge) of the Department of Languages, who stressed the growing importance of cross-cultural skills and how knowledge of Japanese language and culture can benefit students aiming for careers in Japan-linked multinationals.
The seminar featured insightful talks by Japanese language experts Ms. Niti Jain and Ms. Varshaa Srivastava, who shared their experiences of working in Japan and highlighted the importance of cultural literacy and adaptability in global careers. Key themes included the learnability of the Japanese language, career opportunities in Japanese firms, and a comparative look at Indian and Japanese workplace cultures. Speakers emphasised that strong technical skills, a willingness to learn, and discipline are traits valued by Japanese employers.
The event concluded with a vote of thanks from Dr. Tychicus P. David, reinforcing the role of Japanese language skills as a gateway to global opportunities, especially for engineers.
