Presidency University, in collaboration with Khelo India, the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports, and the Karnataka Rugby Football Union, successfully hosted the Asmita Rugby League 2025 on October 25, 2025. The event, held under the national ASMITA initiative to promote women empowerment through sports, brought together over 220 players from 17 teams across Bengaluru and nearby districts in the U-15, U-18, and Senior Women categories.

The league was inaugurated by Mr. Tharun, former Indian rugby player and president of KRFU, who highlighted the role of sports in fostering confidence and leadership among young women. Matches were conducted as per World Rugby standards, showcasing strong talent, teamwork, and competitiveness—especially in the Senior Women’s category, which featured state-level players.

Several standout players were shortlisted for future training opportunities.

Overall, the Asmita Rugby League 2025 reinforced Presidency University’s commitment to fitness, inclusion, and women’s empowerment, aligning with the national vision of Fit India and Khelo India.
