AI Talk Series on Credit Risk Modelling Using Python

10-December-2025

Presidency School of Management successfully organised an insightful AI Talk Series on the theme “Credit Risk Modelling Using Python” on December 10, 2025. The session aimed to bridge the gap between theoretical financial concepts and modern data-driven analytical practices. The key speaker was Dr. Alok Charavarthy, Principal, Data Science, U Next Learning, Bengaluru.

Dr. Chakravarthy highlighted the importance of credit risk modelling in today’s financial ecosystem, where banks and financial institutions rely heavily on data analytics to assess borrower risk, estimate probabilities of default, and make informed lending decisions. Using Python, he introduced participants to industry-relevant tools and techniques, demonstrating how the language simplifies complex computations and enables the development of robust, scalable, and interpretable risk models. The session was enriched with real-time examples and hands-on demonstrations, making it both engaging and application-orientated.

Overall, the session enriched participants with essential knowledge of AI-driven financial analytics, strengthened their practical coding skills, and emphasised the growing role of machine learning in modern credit risk assessment. The session proved to be highly valuable for students aspiring to build careers in finance, analytics, and risk management.

The event was coordinated by Dr. P. Mary Jeyanthi, Professor, and Dr. Hariharan Ravi, Associate Professor.
