55-Day Anti-Drug Awareness Campaign Concludes at Presidency University

Parivarthana Trust, Bengaluru, in association with Presidency University, organised a 55-day anti-drug awareness programme, which concluded with a valedictory function held at the Presidency University campus on Thursday.

 

Dr S. J. Thiruvengadam, Vice Chancellor (In-Charge) of Presidency University, delivered the presidential address. He highlighted the role of educational institutions in creating awareness among students and appreciated Parivarthana Trust for taking the anti-drug message to students across the country.

 

The programme was presided over by Dr Vidya Shankar Shetty, Pro Vice Chancellor of Presidency University, who stressed the need to guide young minds towards healthy and responsible living.

 

Addressing the gathering, keynote speaker Sri Lakshman, LLB, National Joint Organising Secretary of ABRSM, said that youth are the strongest asset of the nation. He urged students to channel their energy in the right direction to build a Viksit Bharat and cautioned them against substance abuse.

 

Sri V. S. Hegde, Senior Advocate and Trustee of Parivarthana Trust, spoke on the legal aspects of substance abuse. He explained how addiction has ruined the lives and careers of many students and appealed to the youth to stay away from drugs and focus on their education and future.

 

Parivarthana Trust conducted the awareness programme across 23 states, reaching more than 60,000 students and 10,000 youth. The valedictory programme at Presidency University marked the successful conclusion of the campaign.
