Presidency University's campus is a living lab for sustainability:
Presidency University has not only built a vibrant and dynamic campus but has also ensured that it remains sustainable and environmentally conscious, aligning its practices with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (UN SDGs). Home to over 21,000 students, the University exemplifies how a large academic institution can maintain a green and inclusive environment through innovative and responsible practices.
Inclusive and Accessible Infrastructure
Inclusivity lies at the heart of Presidency University’s ethos. The campus is differently-abled friendly, featuring ramps at strategic locations, tactile paving for the visually impaired, lifts in all academic and administrative buildings, and accessible washrooms for the disabled on the ground floors across campus. These measures ensure that every individual can move freely and comfortably within the University premises.

Herbal and Organic Gardens
Spread across 100 acres of lush greenery, the campus maintains its ecological balance through a dedicated herbal garden, which also includes vegetable and fruit gardens. The University cultivates a variety of organic produce using vermicompost made from food waste and powdered dry leaves collected on campus.
The organic fruits and vegetables harvested are supplied to the campus kitchens, promoting healthy and sustainable dining practices.

Food Waste Management
With a large student population, the University generates approximately 120–150 kilograms of food waste per day from food courts and cafeterias. In line with its zero-waste vision, all food waste is segregated and responsibly managed. The collected waste is sent to nearby piggeries, thereby supporting local communities and reducing landfill contributions.
