About Us

The Department of Learning and Development was established in 2017 at Presidency University to bridge the gap between industry and academia, focusing primarily on developing the required knowledge, skills, and attitudes among students. The department prepares students to be equipped with the competencies required to succeed in the corporate environment.

RESEARCH

The L and D team pioneers many initiatives at the university, like placement boot camp, employability workshops, speakathons, scavenger races, the book-a-day challenge, and many more. A dedicated team of L&D professionals develops courses for both students and faculty. Courses for the students are designed in a unique way to cater to the budding professionals of each school at the university. They are industry-oriented, integrating them with new-age pedagogy.

The modules offered fall into three basic categories

  • Aptitude training (verbal ability, quantitative reasoning, logical reasoning)
  • Strengthening technical skills (critical thinking, problem solving)
  • Communication skills (interview etiquette, corporate etiquette)

The department of Learning and Development collaborates with the HR department and trains the faculty on a variety of subjects like growth mindset, workplace skills and manners, personality development, to name a few.

Mr. Ignesh Sakri

Head - Learning & Development

Mr. Ignesh Sakri holds a master's degree from Karnataka University, Dharwad, and has nearly three decades of rich experience in both industry and academia. He began his career in the IT industry, gaining seven years of experience in corporate sales before transitioning into academics. Over the last twenty years in academics, Mr. Sakri has worked with leading universities like ICFAI, MIT, Symbiosis, KLS, and Jain University, focusing on student success in areas like admissions, corporate relations, placements, and training.

Currently, he serves as Head of Learning and Development at Presidency University. Mr. Sakri's commitment and focus on building effective learning paths and delivering outcome-based education are highly appreciated.
