Interactive Technical Session on “The Value of Energy Efficiency” conducted by Prof. Patrick Phelan, Associate Dean, Graduate Programs & Professor of Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering, Arizona State University, USA

The Department of Mechanical Engineering, in association with the Office of International Affairs, organized a technical session on the topic “The Value of Energy Efficiency” for the students on Friday 6th October, 2023. The session was conducted by Prof. Patrick Phelan, Associate Dean of Graduate Programs and Professor of Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering, Arizona State University, USA. He is also a renowned professor in the field of sustainable energy. Through the lecture, Prof. Patrick emphasized the need for energy-efficient practices at various levels and highlighted the role of countries like India in achieving the Net Zero Carbon Target, particularly in the energy sector.

He also briefed the students about various Research initiatives of Arizona State University (ASU) towards Energy-efficient practices such as freezing water by Ultrasonic method and Solar-based refrigerated containers for Agricultural products. The Session was an eye-opener for the students giving them a overview of the emerging Technologies and Practices prevalent in the domain of Sustainable Energy.

The students engaged in meaningful discussion with the eminent Professor which gave them valuable insights on the various Courses and Research opportunities offered by Arizona State University. Almost 60 students attended the session alongside the HOD-Mechanical, Director-International Affairs, and team.
