Presidency School of Law Hosts the 4th National Moot Court Competition 2024

Presidency School of Law hosted the 4th Edition of the National Moot Court Competition 2024 on November 15-17, 2024, at the campus. The inaugural ceremony was graced by Senior Adv. Arvind Kamath, Additional Solicitor General of India for the State of Karnataka, and the valedictory and prize distribution ceremony was bestowed by Hon’ble Justice L. Narayana Swamy, Chief Justice of H.P. High Court (former) and present member Lokpal, and honorary guest Sr. Adv. Pramila Nesargi (MLA twice), also the first female chairman of the Karnataka Bar Council.

 

The panelists included distinguished judges, Sr. Adv. Arun Kumar K., Sr. counsel by Karnataka High Court & Partner at Crest Law; Sr. Adv. Kumar M. N., Sr. Panel Counsel; Sr. Adv. Baswaraj S., Partner at Daksh Legal, Bangalore; Sr. Adv. Nalina Mayegowda, Senior Advocate & Partner at Magnah Law Partners, Bangalore; Sr. Adv. Mahendra S. S., Karnataka High Court; Sr. Adv. Vidyulatha B. V., Legal Consultant at Law Point, Bangalore. In total, 50 external legal experts from academia, corporate firms, and practicing advocates, including alumni, were invited to judge the preliminary, quarterfinal, semifinal, and finale rounds.

 

A total of 40 teams from across the country participated, including NLU, Himachal Pradesh, NLS, Bangalore, NLU Sonipat, Delhi University, KIIT, and Bhubhneshwar, among others. The team from JSS Law College Mysore won the first prize, and the runner-up team was Shastra University, Tamil Nadu; the best speaker was ULC, Bangalore; the best memorial was UPES, Dehradun; and the best researcher was Christ University, Bangalore. Total prizes worth 1 lakh 40 thousand, including cash prizes of 90 thousand along with trophies and merit certificates, were awarded.

 

The 4th National Moot Court Competition was a resounding success, blending academic excellence, professional insight, and cultural vibrancy. It reinforced Presidency University’s commitment to fostering holistic growth among its students and providing them with transformative experiences.
