Mega Health Check – up Camp | 12 August, 2023 | 9.00 am – 3.00 pm An ISR initiative of Presidency University Presidency University as a part of its Institutional Social Responsibility Initiatives organized a Mega Health Camp on 12th August, 2023 at its University Campus. The University collaborated with 16 renowned Hospitals, Rotary Club and Lions Club to provide health amenities to the community members in the nearby remote villages where access to affordable healthcare is a challenge. The Mega Health Camp was organized as the University’s endeavour to reduce pre-mature mortality from non-communicable diseases through prevention and treatment and promote mental health and well-being which is the target 3.4 of SDG Goal 3 – Good Health and Well Being.

The Mega Health Camp drive was inaugurated by our Chief Guest, Shri. S. R. Vishwanath, Hon’ble MLA, Yelahanka Constituency. Addressing the gathering, he reiterated the importance of the regular health check-ups and adoption of healthy lifestyle for being fit and leading a healthy life. He also lauded Dr. Shyamsundar and awarded him with a Momento for ‘Outstanding Social Services’ for his contributions towards Social Welfare. The beneficiaries visiting the camp availed the facility of free Blood Pressure/Sugar Testing, Computerized Eye Check-up, Cardiac Check-up, Dental Screening, General Health Check-up etc. The beneficiaries were also provided with free medicines, spectacles, hearing aids and surgeries as per the advice of the Doctors.

The Health Camp targeted the beneficiaries of 48 villages in 5 Panchayats located near the University. Presidency University partnered with 12 renowned Hospitals who deputed their Doctors and Medical Teams of different specialities to cater to the beneficiaries. Rigorous Door-to-door Campaign along was undertaken by the Student Volunteers of NSS Cell of Presidency University.

It was the efforts of the student volunteers, that saw the footfall of nearly 1600 beneficiaries from various ethnicities and economic background participate in the Camp. The event was a one-day affair from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. The camp started with the registration and vital check-up of patients and then proceeded to concerned medical departments, which were made available at various points inside the campus premises.

Through the Camp, 310 Spectacles & 40 Hearing Aids were distributed, three Cataract operations were performed, and three patients underwent Gynaecological Surgeries as well. The Success of this mammoth Health Check-up Camp was the outcome of the incessant and untiring efforts of service-oriented & dedicated Core Team from Department of Student Affairs & Institutional Social Responsibility Unit led by Mr. Salman Ahmed, Vice President, Presidency Group of Institutions. The smooth execution of the Camp was possible due to the immense support received from Administration, and other enthusiastic Faculty Volunteers.
