1. GOVERNANCE & ADMINISTRATION
To plan, monitor and execute the Research and Innovations activities of the Presidency University, a Statutory body “Research & Innovation Council (R&IC)” is functioning with effect from August 2017.
Vice-Chancellor of Presidency University is the Chairperson with Dean, Research & Innovation as Member Secretory as per the statutes of the Presidency University. Three External Expert members one from Industry and Two others from Reputed academic / R&D Institutions will take part in the R&IC Meetings steering the progress of Research and Innovation activities of the University. Additionally, Deans of all Schools, Head of all Departments and Senior Professors with Proven research track record are also the members. R&IC is the Governing body of Presidency University, Bangalore for research and Innovation activities creating a seamless conducive Research Environment.
R&IC facilitates Planning, Implementation, Monitoring of Research activities of Presidency University, formulates rules, regulations and Policy Frame work for research promotions. The Presidency University Bengaluru has established Institution Innovation Council(IIC) as per the norms of Innovation Cell, Ministry of HRD, Govt. of India during IIC Calendar year 2018-19. The IIC of Presidency University is actively participating in all the MIC Activities.
MSME has recognized Presidency University as Host Institution for Incubation.

The First R&IC Meeting was held on 23rd November 2017 and the Frequency of the Meeting is Two in one academic calendar. The last R&IC Meeting (Ninth one) was held on 20th Oct 2021.
2. RESEARCH ECOSYSTEMS / COLLABORATION
R&IC encourages faculty and students towards achieving sustainable research and Innovations and promoting collaboration between Govt. Universities, Research Institute and Industry. 3. INFORMATION MANAGEMENT SYSTEM
The University has signed an MoU with UGC-INFLIBNET to access and upload the PhD Thesis after successful defense.
4. HUMAN RESOURCES
Based on the needs, the Research and Innovation Council suggest and advises the Human Resource Department of the university to appoint young talent with good research potential preferably PhD from Reputed Institutes such as from IISc, IITs. and NITs in different thrust research areas. The Current strength of Faculty with PhD in different disciplines of Engineering, Management, Law and Design is 240.
5. RESEARCH PROMOTION AND GUIDANCE
The R&IC encourages faculty to develop research proposals for funding agency and enhanced industry academia by providing support in terms of both financial and logistically in organizing frequently specific research theme based Workshops/Conferences/Webinars/Seminars.

b) Research Incentives and Recognition
A Research Promotion Policy is in place and accordingly the faculty members are Incentivized for their quality publication and Patents.
c) Technology Development and Business Centred Facility
As per the Research Promotion Policy, Faculty are encouraged to build strategic partnership/Collaboration Industry Institute interface, Sponsored Research, IPR and Patents to facilitates Innovations, Incubations, Entrepreneurship and Start-Up.
The strategic partners as mentioned in section 2 are currently collaborating in the above activities. The required Infrastructure, Instrumentations and Computer facilities with necessary man power will be provided for start-up/Incubators. The technology developed by faculty and students which may end up in product will be provided / shared to the entrepreneurs for further commercialization of the product.
d) Finance
The Research budget of the University is prepared in discussion with all the necessary stake holders and the same will be send for approval from the Top Management. Separate budget for research is in place.
6. INTEGRITY AND ETHICS
A standard Plagiarism check using Turnitin software is in place which is accessible to all the researchers. Further frequent sensitizing of research community about dubious research, and publishing practices and predatory Journals is done through lectures/meetings.
7. CAPACITY BUILDING
As per the Research Promotion Policy, New Faculty with PhD are provided with Financial assistance under SEED Grants Scheme of the University to set-up basic Infrastructure and to carry out Preliminary Research Work leading to Applying for major Research Projects for funding from external agencies. Students are supported financially and academically to develop Innovative Projects and to enable them to compete in National / International Competitive Events.
8. RESEARCH MONITORING
PhD Scholars research activities are closely monitored on a regular basis by conducting two Doctoral Committee in one Academic Year. The regulations for the award of PhD strictly complies with UGC regulations and Guidelines. The research publications of both Faculty and Students are reviewed and assessed. Accordingly, the research papers are categorized into Scopus, WoS, or UGC Care Indexed.
