Dr. Hee Yong Youn

Endowed Professor College of Software Sungkyunkwan University, Korea

Hee Yong Youn is an honor professor at the College of Software, Sungkyunkwan University, Korea. His research areas include smart IoT, collective intelligence, machine learning-based optimization, mobile edge computing, WSN, cloud computing, ubiquitous computing and networking, and fault-tolerant computing.  

He completed his Bachelor of Science and Master of Science in Electrical Engineering from Seoul National University, Seoul, Korea. He served in various academic roles, including Senior Researcher, Gold Star Precision Co., Central Research Lab., Korea, Assistant Professor at the University of North Texas, Associate Professor at the University of Texas, Arlington, Assistant Professor at the University of Texas, Arlington, and Consulting Professor, Samsung DS Software Center. 

He has more than 50 domestic and international patents to his credit. He has published 500 research publications, including over 100 SCI-level journals. He has received research grants of over $10 million from domestic and international industries. He is also the editor in chief of the Journal of Information Processing Systems and editor of the Journal of Pervasive Mobile Computing at Elsevier. 

He is a distinguished keynote speaker, presenting at the 2009 ICICTA, 2018 and 2019 World Congress of Robotics, 2019 ICCSSE, 2020 ICDSIT, 2022 IEEE ICRTITA, and 2023 ICRITCM.  

He is a recipient of various awards and recognitions, including the Best Development Award of the year 1983 for “Computerized Color Radar System,” awarded by the President of Korea, and the Outstanding Paper Award in the CyberC ’14.
