Dr. D. A. Wang

Distinguished Professor Graduate Institute of Precision Engineering National Chung Hsing University, Taiwan

Dr. Wang received his Bachelor of Science degree with high honors in mechanical engineering from the National Sun-Yet Sen University, Kaohsiung, Taiwan, in 1992, a Master of Science in mechanical engineering from the National Taiwan University, Taipei, Taiwan, in 1996, and a Ph.D. degree in mechanical engineering from the University of Michigan at Ann Arbor, United States, in 2004.

While pursuing a Ph.D., he specialized in MEMS, sheet metal forming, and plasticity, with a dissertation on plastic and fracture analysis of engineering materials and welded structures. Since 2005, he has been working at the National Chung Hsing University, Taichung, Taiwan, performing R&D on compliant mechanism design, novel ultrasonic horn design, steel leveling, micromachined energy harvesters, and CMOS MEMS sensors and actuators.

He is currently serving as a distinguished professor at the National Chung Hsing University, Taichung, Taiwan. Previously, he worked at Da-Yeh University, ChangHua, Taiwan, developing micromachined piezoelectric actuators and friction stir welding technologies.

He has several patents to his credit and has authored or coauthored several papers and a book chapter about the failure mechanisms of advanced welding processes.
