Dr. Ahmad Jais Alimin is a distinguished individual with an academic and professional background that reflects a lifelong commitment to innovation and excellence. He is a recipient of the Leaders in Innovation Fellowships (LIF) from the Royal Academy of Engineering, United Kingdom, in 2021, for his active involvement in the innovation field. He completed the Bachelor of Engineering in Mechanical Engineering (Honors) from Imperial College, London, in 1998 and the Master of Engineering in Mechanical Engineering from Universiti Teknologi, Malaysia, in 2002. Dr. Ahmad further solidified his expertise with a Ph.D. in mechanical engineering from Coventry University, UK, in 2007. In 2015, he earned a Postgraduate Diploma in Entrepreneurship from the Judge Business School at Cambridge University.  

Throughout his career, Dr. Ahmad has held various leadership positions, which include Head of the Automotive Powertrain Research Group and the present position of Principal Researcher at the Centre for Energy and Industrial Environment Studies (CEIES) at UTHM since 2021. His administrative roles include Deputy Dean at the Center for Graduate Studies (2014–2015), Faculty of Mechanical and Manufacturing Engineering (2012–2013) at UTHM, and head of the Department of Energy and ThermoFluid Engineering from 2008 to 2011. 

He started his entrepreneurial journey by co-founding APT Touch Sdn. Bhd. in 2013, serving on the board of directors until 2023, and co-inventing the commercial technological product ‘FGK®: A Retrofit Fuel Injection Kit. for small engines.’ Additionally, he played a pivotal role in developing ‘WATERINE: A Novel Hybrid Solar Chimney and Liquid Desiccant System for the Simultaneous Generation of Power and Fresh Water.’ He served as the national focal point and peer reviewer for transport and climate in the Change Global Status Report (TCC-GSR) by the Sustainable, Low Carbon Transport Partnership from 2022 to 2023. His contributions also extend to national policymaking, with his involvement in the Entrepreneurial Action Plan for Malaysian Higher Education Institutions from 2021–2025, specifically in the Technology and Innovation Section, under the Ministry of Higher Education in 2020. 

Dr. Ahmad has demonstrated exceptional project management skills through managing over 10 research grants with a cumulative amount of around RM2.7 million. Apart from academia, he also serves as a technical advisor for various industries and government agencies, including EXORIN Technologies, MIROS, IEG Singapore, Sime Darby Plantation, and SIRIM QAS International, among others. 

He has delivered keynote addresses and presentations at national and international conferences, as well as at institutions of higher learning, sharing his knowledge and training for thinking and business models. His expertise covers a broad spectrum, ranging from automotive technology and renewable energy to innovation and technopreneurship.
