The Presidency University commemorated the nation’s 75th Republic Day on its campus on January 26, 2024. The event commenced with the Chief Guest, Ms. Deepa James, Group Director of Aeronautical Development Agency, hoisting the Indian National Flag along with Dr. Nissar Ahmed, Honourable Chancellor, and Dr. Anubha Singh, Vice Chancellor in Charge. The flag-hoisting ceremony was followed by a NCC parade and various contingents representing diverse art forms from Indian regions.

The central theme of this year’s Republic Day celebration was “Naari Shakti,” or Women empowerment. Ms. Deepa, in her speech, shed light on the resilience of women’s participation in the Indian parliament and various fields, including the aviation sector. She also highlighted numerous Central Government Schemes aimed at promoting women’s welfare. She established the role of Women in household as a catalyst for Societal and National Development.

The event continued with the students presenting traditional dance forms from the states of Kerala, Tamil Nadu, Karnataka, Andhra Pradesh, and Rajasthan. The concluding part of the event included a wonderous group dance based on the main theme – Naari Shakti, NCC cadets showcasing military prowess, and a spectacular motorcade.
