Workshop for Librarians on RFID Technology held at Presidency University

A One Day Workshop on Implementation Challenges of RFID Technology and Koha ILMS was held at Presidency University, Bengaluru on Thursday, 13th July 2019. The objective of the Workshop was to discuss all aspects of both Koha library management system and RFID applications for libraries. Both systems have transformed the libraries in India. Over 80 librarians from different parts of the country have participated in the Workshop. Besides presentations by experts, there were demonstrations and discussions on case studies. Experts were drawn from Ahmedabad, Rourkela and Bangalore. The program was jointly organized by Presidency University and Rapid Radio Solutions, Ahmedabad. Vice Chancellor, Prof. Radha Padmanabhan was the Chief Guest for the inauguration of this event.
Koha is an open source Library Management system with enormous features which can be used for providing a wide variety of automated services in libraries of any size. RFID is a technology which is increasingly used as a security system in libraries. With RFID, book theft can be drastically reduced in libraries resulting in releasing staff time for providing better services.
The One Day Workshop was organized by Presidency University with Rapid Radio Solutions, Ahmedabad as a Technical Partner.
