The Department of ECE, SoE in association with IEEE Student Branch, Presidency University, organized a LIVE webinar on “Opportunities in VLSI & Embedded Systems in Industry” on 18th December 2020 from 10:30 AM to 12:30 PM for 3rd and 5th semester students and all staff members of ECE. The webinar was conducted on Microsoft Teams. The experts were Mr. Vulligadla Amaresh, Associate Director, Memory Solutions Team, and Dr. Rajeev Kamal, Senior staff Engineer, Samsung Semiconductor India Research.

Mr. Vulligadla Amaresh has 16+ years of experience in industries and published 2 patents as “Method and system for managing host memory buffer of host using non-volatile memory express (NVME) controller in solid state storage device”. He has worked on several project related to memory controller architectures, in the domain of Architectures, Design, Implementation and Verification (end-to-end) for Memory controlled from SAS to NVMe. Dr. Rajeev Kamal received his doctorate from Technical University of Catalunya (Barcelona Spain) in Electronics Engineering. He worked on Advance Hardware Architecture group and developed a generic Network on Chip (NoC) router architecture. He has 11+ years of experience and has participated in several projects and published numerous research papers, and a book.

The online program was graced by the presence of Dr. Shrishail B. Anadinni (Associate dean), Dr. Shilpa Mehta (HoD ECE and EEE) and Dr. Rajiv Ranjan Singh, Professor, ECE. The program was coordinated by Forum Coordinators Ms. Aruna M, Ms. Anupama Sindgi, Ms. Samreen Fiza and Ms. Srilakshmi K H. The session started at 10:30 am, and Mr. V Amaresh introduced the audience to Embedded Systems, Electronics-Hardware and Software Systems, VLSI Field, IOT, Machine Learning and Artificial Intelligence. He spoke about VLSI System Implementation, various sectors, and the key domains for exciting job opportunities.. Following Mr.Vulligadla Amaresh the speaker Dr. Rajeev Kamal took over the session and gave an informative talk on Artificial Intelligence and Related Markets, Internet of Things and Machine Learning, opportunities in India in the field of VLSI Design, Hardware, and Embedded Software and said that bridging Theory and Practice is the right approach for enabling students to be Industry Ready.

 The speakers encouraged students and staff to ask clarifications wherever required and students were equally enthusiastic in the questions raised and answers received. The program concluded with a vote of thanks. Some screenshots from the event are attached.
