Think and Write: Online Academic Writing Workshop was organized by the department of English, Presidency University for research scholars in the field of English language and literature. The 19 day workshop was conducted through Microsoft Team platform from Monday 5th to Saturday of July, 2021. Dr. Venkata Ramani Challa, the Head of the Department gave opening remarks encouraging participants to take the sessions seriously with the aim of improving their academic writing skills. The lecture sessions included, recent trends in English literature and teaching, literature review, theoretical framework in English literature and teaching, citation and references, and reviewing a research article.
The workshop aimed at strengthening academic writing skills in the respective area of research scholars. A team comprising in house faculty members and reputed academicians delivered lecture sessions for 40 minutes every day till Friday, 16th of July 2021. Later the participants presented their assignments and feedback sessions were followed by resource persons. The workshop committee identified resource persons and shared the participants’ submissions, in order to make the discussions productive. Participants have benefitted from intensive, interactive hand-on training during which they learned to develop arguments. By the end of the last week of the workshop, the participants identified peer reviewers for themselves.
A participant-centered approach was used because the research scholars work on different topics and individual concentration was required to identify existing weakness, strengths and need for change in their academic writing.
