A technical talk on ‘ Emerging trends in E&C for a better future’ was organized by the Department of Electronics & Communication on Thursday, 27th February 2020. The speaker was Shri C. Murali, former Vice president of IETE, India.

Shri C.Murali started the talk by showing a very useful video on current and emerging technologies. He highlighted the latest trends in the field of IOT and 5G developments, applications and other emerging technologies like Single electron transistor,Gi-Fi, Diamond Semiconductors,Robotics and Cybernetics and many more.

Shri C. Murali also briefed about IOT technology and its role in day to day life. He also focused on 5G technology& its infrastructure,5G system multi-tier architecture, Key performance indicators (KPIs) of
5G,Application Scenarios andEnabling Technologies of 5G. A lively discussion followed the talk.

The program concluded with a vote ofthanks byMr. Praveen (4th Semester ECE). Professor of ECE Dept Dr. Rajiv Ranjan Singh presented a memento as a token of respect to our guest of honor.

Present on the occasion were : Dean SOE, Dr. Prabhakar Reddy, Associate Dean Dr. Kalaiarasan , Dean, Research & Innovation, Dr. Ramesh and Deputy Dean, Ph.D Programs, Dr. Shankar besides
faculty and students of the Department. The program was co-ordinated by faculty members, Ms. AnupamaSindgi, Ms.Srilakshmi, Ms. Samreenfiza and Ms. Aruna.

About the speaker

Shri C.Murali is an academician and educationist. He received his B.E. degree in electronics from UVCE, Bangalore University and M.E. Degree in Electronics from BITS, Pilani. He has more than four decades of academic experience as a Lecturer, Asst. Professor, Professor and HoD. He has served various institutions / universities as a BoS member, BoE Chairman for UG and PG. He has served M S Ramaiah Institute of Technology, Bangalore for 34 years and Ramaiah University of Applied Sciences, Bangalore as Associate Academic Registrar in Faculty of Engineering & Technology. He has worked as an expert for UPSC, NBA-AICTE and Proficience at IISc. His areas of interest are Microwave Engineering, Computer Networks and Wireless Mobile Networks. Prof. Murali is a fellow of IETE, life member of ISTE and IMAPS (India). He has served IETE Bangalore Centre as EC Member, Joint Secretary, Vice-Chairman and Chairman. He has served IETE, New Delhi as Governing Council Member (three terms), Academic Committee Chairman and Vice President. Under his guidance various activities like syllabus revision, Introduction of CGPA System, publication of Lab manuals, learning materials, dual programs and ISF activities were initiated and successfully executed.

Awards received

  • Recipient ofDewang Mehta National Educational Award as Best Professor in Electronics & Communication Engineering in Aug 2017.
  • IETE B.R.Batra Memorial Award 2018.

He has provided consultancy in the development of microwave trainer kits, fabrication of teaching and training aids.

He is also listed in the Directory of Indo-American Who’s Who publication and Biographical International, South Asia publication.
