Presidency University celebrated its 1st Annual Intra-University Cultural Fest Meraki – 2017 on 28.04.2017 and 29.04.2017 in a vibrant and exuberant manner in the University premises.
The event was inaugurated by
Shri. Akul Balaji, film actor, television host, dancer and a famous media luminary.
Shri. Rishab Shetty – Kannada Film Director, Actor and Director of the hit movie ‘Kirk Party’ was the Guest of Honor.
Dr. Nissar Ahmed, Founder Chancellor of Presidency University & Founder Chairman of Presidency Group of Institutions(PGI) presided and declared the event open. The dais was further embellished with the gracious presence of the key officials of the University, Prof. Dr. Vijayan Immanuel– Pro-Chancellor & CEO, Prof. Dr. B.S. Nagendra Parashar– Vice Chancellor, Prof. Dr. Radha Padmanabhan– Pro-Vice Chancellor and Prof. Mr. Mrinmoy Biswas-Registrar.
The screening of the trailer of the Kannada film ’96’ and the presence of the Director ( of this film) Mr. Jayanth Seegi and the music director Mr. B.J. Bharath > made the opening event a very special one.
The two day cultural rendezvous was packed with a gamut of off stage and onstage events . The events included a repertoire of talents in the literary, fine arts. personality test, mad ads, painting and many more. The pinnacle of the show was the Fashion parade- Syrmo’s which exhibited the outfit styles of three generations under the theme ‘Clash of the Eras’
More than 300 students (who were shortlisted after the auditions held on 17.03.2017 “Making of Meraki”) participated enthusiastically in all the events and made the fest a colorful and an entertaining one .The events such as Fashion Show, Group Dance, Classical Dance, Solo Dance, Battle of the Bands, Personality Contest, Air Crash, Mad Ads, Acapella, Talent Show, Treasure Hunt, The Scholar’s Quill, Photography, Painting, Cooking without Fire, etc., grabbed the attention of the audience and engrossed them in delight. Students cherished as well as cheered the faculty members and non-teaching faculty members who participated in a few events specially organized for them.
The Valedictory Event was held on 29.04.17 at 4.p.m. The key officials of the University participated in the Valedictory and distributed the prizes to the Winners and the Runners up in the various events. The event drew to a close with the much awaited DJ.
The fest was meticulously organized and it must be gratefully mentioned that, the Management was gracious in providing the entire requirements & support to organize the fest on a very large scale with all grandeur.
The devotion, determination, and untiring efforts of the faculty coordinators student coordinators, student volunteers and the strong and timely support from the University’s Administration department brought the fest to a reality and made it a great success.
Hurrah! the Intra-University Cultural Fest will become an Inter-University Cultural Fest next academic year !!!
