School of Law organized the Legal Aid Day on 17th November 2018. Skits played by the students on Domestic Violence, Sexual Harassment and Prohibition of Sex Determination marked the event. These skits were held at City Civil Court Compex, Dodballapur and were viewed by the visitors to the court. After the event, the students were addressed by Senior Civil Judge, Mr M. B. Kulkarni who spoke on the importance of legal awareness. Mr Kulkarni also appreciated the efforts of the Law students in actively involving in community service.



Legal Aid Day aims to create legal awareness for the benefit of all the citizens in general and to the weaker sections of the society in particular. Various provisions are available in the Indian judiciary system in order to reach the vulnerable sections of the society such as SC/ST, Women, Industrial Labourers etc.

The Legal Services Authorities Act, 1987, is aimed at providing free and efficient legal S\services to the weaker sections of the society to ensure that opportunities for securing justice are not denied to any citizen by reason of economic or other disabilities and to organize Lok Adalats to secure that the operation of the legal system promotes justice on a basis equal opportunity.

The School of Law, Presidency University observes the Legal Aid Day every year. This year’s Legal Aid Day was done in association with Taluk Legal Services Authority, Bangalore Rural.
