Legal Aid and Legal Awareness Day held on 18th February 2019

Presidency University, School of Law, organized a Legal Aid and Legal Awareness Programme at the Government Padavi Purva College, Yelahanka on the 18th February, 2019 to spread awareness regarding free legal aid provided by District Legal Services Authority (DLSA) and settlement of cases in Lok Adalat in a speedy and cost-effective manner. Materials and literature given by the DLSA were distributed to the students of the College. The literature had a brief write up on the right to free legal aid, Women Counselling Centres and Child Care Centres. As a part of the legal awareness programme, students of 2nd semester performed a skit on the topic, ” Eve teasing and How the law deals with it, Prevalence of Human Trafficking, and Violence against women”. Dean, Prof. Sapna addressed on the topic, “Right to free Legal Aid”. This was followed by two competitions. One was Essay competition on the topic, “What are your fundamental duties as a good citizen of this country?. The second one was a sketching competition on the topic,“Gender Equality for Development of the Nation. Is it true?”. Totally 46 students of the College participated. 6 prizes were given away.
