Kannada is a beautiful language, is simple as well as easy to learn. What all required for learning this language is a genuine interest in learning. This was stated by Prof. Chandrasekharaiah, Professor of Kannada, Kongadiyappa College, Doddaballpur. He was speaking as Chief Guest on the occasion of Karnataka Rajyotsava Day on Saturday, 30th November 2019. Quoting the classic, Kavirajamarga of 850 C. E. which made references to many earlier Kannada works, Prof. Chandrasekharaiah said that the Kannada language is nearly 2000 years old. Prof. Chandrashekharaiah paid glowing tributes to writers in Kannada who have brought 8 Jnanapith awards to the state.
In the beginning, Vice Chancellor, Prof. Radha Padmanabhan conveyed Rajyotsava greetings to all the audience which was followed by a formal welcome by Prof. Udayaravi, Head of the Department of Mechanical Engineering. Dr Akhila Udupa of School of Management spoke on the significance of Rajyotsava day.
Vice Chancellor and the Chief Guest distributed prizes to all winners in various competitions run as a part of the Rajyotsava celebrations.
On stage performances included : group songs, group dances as well as solo songs. Prof. Jagadish H. Godihal, Professor of Civil Engineering conveyed the vote of thanks. After the formal event in the auditorium, there was a Dollu Knitha by professional artistes. Students joined the artistes to the beats of the drums. The whole campus looked festive with Rajyotsava flags, balloons and paper buntings.
