About the Department
The Department of Mathematics, Presidency University, School of Engineering, Bangalore, has been vigorously engaged in both research and teaching. The department has at present 37 energetic and dedicated faculty members who actively involved in research activities in the areas like, Differential equations, Real Analysis, Complex Analysis, Graph Theory, Fluid Mechanics, Differential Geometry, Operation Research, Cryptography, Coding Theory and Topology. The department offers the Ph.D., Programme and other Mathematics courses for engineering departments.
About the workshop
Graph theory is rapidly moving into the mainstream of mathematics mainly because of its applications in diverse fields which include biochemistry (genomics), electrical engineering (communications networks and coding theory), computer science (algorithms and computations) and operations research (scheduling). The powerful combinatorial methods found in graph theory have also been used to prove significant and well-known results in a variety of areas in mathematics itself.
