Founder’s Day celebrated on Saturday 2nd February 2019

Founder’s Day was celebrated with solemnity in the university on Saturday, 2nd February 2019 to celebrate the birthday of the Hon’ble Chancellor, Sri Nissar Ahmed. A simple function was held in the auditorium on the afternoon to convey best wishes to the Hon’ble Chancellor, which was attended by all teaching and non teaching staff of the university besides the Hon’ble Chancellor, Pro Chancellor, Vice Chancellor and all key officials. Speaking on the occasion, the Hon’ble Chancellor recalled the challenges he had to face including land acquisition, government clearances, building construction, faculty recruitment and others. Besides thanking the BoG Members, the Chancellor thanked the founding team members, including Prof. Ayyappa, Ms Nandini, Ms Princy, Ms Geetha and Prof. Soman Nambiar who worked on land acquisition and government approvals. He also thanked the initial team of key officials, led by Prof. M. Ramachandran, Prof. Nagendra Parashar, Prof. Calvin King and Prof. Sanjay Pohekar, for setting up the initial academic systems in place. Hon’ble Chancellor thanked all the faculty and staff for the efforts they are taking in order to deliver quality education in the university. Founder’s Day also saw the introduction of Mr Salman Ahmed, the new Vice President, Presidency University who took charge recently.

In the beginning, the Vice Chancellor welcomed the audience and felicitated the Hon’ble Chancellor besides introducing Mr Salman Ahmed. She was followed by Prof Chancellor, Prof. Vijayan Immanuel who too felicitated the Hon’ble Chancellor. Teaching and non teaching staff presented a memento to the Chancellor on the occasion. The program ended with vote of thanks by Dr. M. Ishwara Bhat, Pro Vice Chancellor.
