The principle of Gender Equality is enshrined in the Indian Constitution in its Preamble, Fundamental Rights, Fundamental Duties and Directive Principles sections. The Constitution not only grants equality to women, but also empowers the State to adopt measures of positive discrimination in favour of women. At Presidency University we took up the gender equality drive to foster this consciousness and spirit among the students.
Constitution Day (National Law Day) is celebrated on 26th November every year to commemorate the adoption of Constitution of India. On 26 November 1949, the Constituent Assembly of India adopted the Constitution of India, and it came into effect on 26 January 1950.
