School Overview
The School of Information Science of the Presidency University is focused offering quality education in the realm of Computer Science offering various Programs with different thrust areas in the domain. The Impact of Technology, in general, and Information Science, in particular, have collaborated to lay a strong foundation for Basic Sciences and Technology in the realm of Informatics, simultaneously ensuring that international exchange of information is made feasible. This calls for the generation of a special breed of Graduates who are equipped with the requisite skills of applying knowledge acquired from the study of the fundamental tenets of Information Science and Technology. The School is focused on structuring the Program in a manner so as to facilitate the organic pooling of the knowledge in Information Science amongst the Academic Stakeholders. It aims at being the vehicle that propels students towards Innovative Research in Information Science and Technology. The Department of Information Science, which is the backbone of this School, propagates education and research on contemporary computer systems, with thrust on core theories of Computational Science, Visual Informative Science, latest Programming Languages, Computer Architecture and the more relevant Bioinformatics. Students will be also equipped with knowledge in formulation of Mathematical Models that assists in resolving engineering issues using the understanding of informational structure. In due course the School of Information Science will expand its knowledge gained into new vistas associated with Computer Science. Areas like Information Physics focusing on segments like evolving Principles, Methodologies and Sensory Systems. Courses like Virtual Reality, Tele-Robotics and Adaptive Recognition and Control System will be taught. Students will also be able to equip themselves with knowledge of Information Processing, Communication Networks, Information Electronics and Media Technologies. Students graduating from this School will also be trained to do research and innovate.
