Rashtriya Swacchta Divas observed in the Presidency University campus on 27th Sept, 2017

To accelerate the efforts to achieve universal sanitation coverage and to put focus on sanitation, the Prime Minister of India, Shri Narendra Modi, launched the Swachh Bharat Mission on 2nd October, 2014. The Mission aims to achieve a Swachh Bharat by 2019, as a fitting tribute to Mahatma Gandhi on his 150th birth anniversary.
As a part of this, Presidency University as an educational institution carried out an activity on campus on the 27th of September 2017. In keeping with the theme of the Swacchta Mission – “एक कदम स्वछता की ओर “ , selected areas on campus were cleaned by different groups of students drawn from NSS Volunteers and interested students. The driveways were cleared of accumulated dust and mud while the main entrance to the University was cleaned thoroughly.
About 100 plus students gathered and identified areas to clean and enthusiastically got to work under the supervision of the NSS Officers and the Key Officials.
Both Faculty and students understood the significance of the event as a highlight to an ongoing activity throughout the country, their campus and their homes.
